Barnack Hills and Holes

A warm afternoon, and a visit to this lovely nature reserve which used to be a quarry.

We didn't see any of their rarest flowers today, though we have previously seen the magnificent Pasque flower, which is, unsurprisingly in bloom around Easter time.

Last time there were horses grazing in one area as well.

We saw an assortment of wild flowers, one snake, probably an adder, which slithered out of sight before I could take a photo, and a few butterflies - two unspecified blues, two small copper (I think) and two brimstone. We also saw a couple of yellowhammers.

Flower photos - everything else moved too quickly!

And finally a view across the reserve to Barnack church.
